Actor-turned-director Ajay Devgan, whose last release, the thrilling Drishyam, came as a surprise because of its subtle performances and departure from masala-esque cinema, is back to his commercial best, it seems.

As the first look of his new film, Shivaay makes its way through the interwebs, it seems Ajay is up to some pretty daredevil antics. All this became palpable when the actor took to his social media account on Twitter and shared an image that shows him hanging from a rope in the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas.

Ajay is the director of the film himself and is also playing the lead role. The film will also introduce newbie Sayesha Saigal, who is grand niece of legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Pakistan’s Ali Kazmi, who made quite a splash recently with Deepa Mehta’s film, Beeba Boys, also has a role in the film.

According to Bollywoodlife.com, the next schedule of the movie will be shot in Hyderabad before moving to Bulgaria. Set for an October release, the film will make or break Ajay’s reputation as a filmmaker given the fact that his last directorial venture, U Me Aur Hum, was an epic, unredeemable disaster.

Also making its presence felt online is Vishal Bhardwaj venture, Rangoon, in which Shahid Kapoor will essay the role of an army soldier. To prepare for the role, not only is Shahid hanging out in the gym but has also given up on carbs and cigarettes to look the part.

Slated to release next year, the film is a period drama that is set during World War II. According to reports, Rangoon is a love story that also features Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in pivotal roles. Given Vishal and Shahid’s previous collaboration that resulted in films like Kaminey and Haider as well as Saif Ali Khan’s Omkara performance, Rangoon is one upcoming film that has our undivided attention.
