We all knew of Adnan Sarwar as the singer-songwriter of Lahore’s emerging underground band Club

Caramel until he took Pakistani cinema by surprise, last year, with his maiden film venture, Shah. A biopic on Summer Olympics’ bronze medalist Hussain Shah, the film garnered a lot of appreciation from critics and audiences alike for being a passionate, emotional and an honest depiction of Hussain’s rags to riches life story. Adnan, who worked with a shoestring budget to breathe life into his dream, has now started work on his second film with a proper crew in hand.

Unlike his first project where in order to meet ends Adnan had to take lead in front of the camera as well, his second untitled offering will star some of country’s big names; the announcement for the cast will be made by next month. Instep spoke to Adnan to get more details on the rumours. “It’s a little early for us to be divulging plotlines and the script but I can assure you that like Shah, it’s going to stand out and be of a very different genre compared to films that are currently being made,” he said. After a little more probing, Adnan revealed that it won’t be a biopic but instead a romantic film. “It’s hard to describe the genre but it’s going to be an interesting take on romance. It is something that deals with crime and romance in the kind of settings that never see the light of day,” Adnan added.

The film, which will go on floors in Karachi next month, is expected to release by October, next year and given how Adnan emotionally invests himself in a film, we have high expectations from the second one.
