She might be the reigning “Queen” of Bollywood these days, and counted amongst the industry’s highest paid female actors, but Kangana Ranaut has always been vocal about her struggle to make it to the top.

It seems that the small-town girl’s journey from awkward newbie to dazzling diva has caught the fancy not just of Bollywood but of the international media as well. The National Award-winning actress has been invited to attend the prestigious ‘Women In The World’ summit to be held in the UK on October 9. The event, which is held annually and aims to illuminate the challenges facing women and girls around the globe, hosts the most powerful women in the world, with the likes of Hillary Clinton and Angelina Jolie having been part of it in the past. Kangana is the first Bollywood female celebrity to be invited to attend and share her inspirational story with the world.

As per sources close to the actress, the organizers felt that Kangana was a standing example of young India, adding that the actress will talk about the entertainment industry’s obsession with trying to impose artificial and unrealistic images of women on the screen. The conversation will explore how, as an artist, Kangana has resisted that pressure, and defined a new kind of role model for young women in India. The Bollywood star will be sharing the stage with other inspirational women such as Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Queen Rania of Jordan.
