Despite severe criticism for his last film, Dilwale, actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan, 50, has moved on to his next release, Fan. Produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baaraat, Dum Laga Ke Haisha), the upcoming thriller features Shah Rukh Khan in the role(s) of a superstar and his obsessed fan and is without Bollywood’s usual song-and-dance routine. Running over 2 hours and 30 minutes, the film’s release comes with the highest number of screens. In numbers that’s 3500, which makes it Bollywood’s biggest release in 2016 so far.

In the weeks leading up to the film’s release, Shah Rukh Khan is going all out to promote this eerie thriller including an appearance on comedy king Kapil Sharma’s upcoming new show, which is set to air soon on Sony TV.

Meanwhile rumours that Raees – SRK’s next release after Fan – will be 3 hours and 50 minutes long are false. According to reports, that is not the final length of the film after it goes through the process of editing. What is true, however, is that Shah Rukh Khan is currently in talks with Bajirao Mastani director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a potential collaboration. With a Gauri Shinde film in the bag and talks with Imtiaz Ali and Anand L. Rai (Tanu Weds Manu), SRK at 50, is looking to redefine his image. Only time will tell if he can actually manage it. For now though, he looks set with Fan.
