Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who tends to play safe, similar roles in many of her films, unlike her contemporaries Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt, is, at least according to reports, gearing up to play a Pakistani journalist in an upcoming film titled Noor. The film is Bollywood’s adaptation of popular novel Karachi, You’re Killing Me, which has been written by Pakistani journalist and author Saba Imtiaz.

According to Indian media reports, the rights for the adaptation have already been reserved by a leading production house and the film will be directed by debutant Sunhil Sippy. Sinha will be essaying the role of a Karachi-based journalist and as per media reports, the actress has said yes to the film.

Karachi, You’re Killing Me, which became a roaring success upon its release, revolves around the life of a female journalist, Ayesha Khan, who is based in Karachi and is a progressive thinker. The story takes into account the contrast between her modern attitude and the city’s orthodox elements. The film will go into production later this year and is slated to release in 2017. Sinha is currently busy shooting for Abhinay Deo’s Force 2 while her next film Akira by A.R. Murugadoss is all set to release this September.
