Actor-producer John Abraham usually stays out of the limelight unless a film is releasing, which is why it’s not surprising to see John Abraham back in the headlines. The film that’s bringing the hunky actor back to the big screen is Welcome Back, the sequel to the original comedy caper Welcome, which featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role. For the sequel, John is stepping in place of Akshay and will re-team with his Race co-star Anil Kapoor.

In a June interview with DNA, the actor spoke about his disappearance from the spotlight and said, “My last release was Madras Cafe and it has been two years since I was last seen in a film. But I am glad, it’s that way. I don’t want to be on screen just for the sake of it. I am secure as an actor and these things about other actors having five and ten releases in a year does not bother me.”

Good for him, we think. Anyway, the bigger story is that John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, who starred in the original Dhoom film as well as Karan Johar’s Dostana will share the big screen again after a gap of seven years. No, it’s not the sequel to Dostana but the third film in the Hera Pheri franchise. And it seems that despite the gap, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan’s bromance is still alive and kicking.

When asked about the reunion, Abhishek Bachchan told Times of India: “We kinda picked up where we left off. He is one of my closest friends, so yes, we always meet. But onscreen, we crackle. We were in Dubai when we did our first shot together. And we looked at each other and started laughing. It seemed like yesterday that we were shooting for Dostana. There was no difference, no time lapse. With people you have that understanding, that chemistry with, you never lose it. John and me have no insecurities working together, and that is the greatest thing that shows. We are never competing. And somewhere that makes me brash enough to say that we complement each other. Shah Rukh Khan always says that in an ensemble film you gotta have fun and that will show. You
can’t fake that stuff!,” said Abhishek.
