Actor and musician, Hugh Laurie, the formidable star of House, is back on the TV scene with several projects. The most famous of the lot is The Night Manager, based on John Le Carre’s novel in which he starred alongside Tom Hiddleston (Loki from Thor). Despite the acclaim, the six-episode series will not return with a new season.

Laurie, however, is looking ahead and keeping himself busy with other projects.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Laurie noted, “Honestly, I would have played anything going. If they’d asked me to play the chef in the kitchen, I’d have done it. I’d have done the catering on the film set, actually. I just wanted to be involved. I just thought it was such a great story and was so happy that it was finally coming to the screen.”

Though he’s also starring on Veep in multiple episodes, it’s the Hulu series Chance based on Kem Nunn’s novel of the same name that has Laurie fans excited. On the show, Laurie will star as San Francisco neuropsychiatrist Eldon Chance.

Speaking about the book and his role, Laurie noted, “[Chance] finds himself in a sort of backwater of neuropsychiatry where his chances of actually healing anybody have diminished. So he’s become a sort of cog in the medical-legal machine. There are many legal and moral and ethical implications to the notion of responsibility. Is this person who got hit on the head or had a car accident and then a month later punched a guy in a restaurant — are the two things connected? To what degree are people responsible for the composition of this lump in the head?”

Given the fact that Chance has been given two full season order, rest assured we will be seeing a lot more of Laurie in the next two years.
