The film’s lead pair, as well as musicians Adnan and Asrar, launched the OST

LAHORE: Sikander Rizvi and Humaima Mallick, the good-looking lead pair of the upcoming rom-com Dekh Magar Pyar Say, were a sight for sore eyes at the official soundtrack launch of the film and added a dose of glamour to the otherwise desultory affair held at Super Cinema in Lahore.

What was supposed to be an ‘intimate media meet and greet’ was in fact an event that was open to the public. Fans poured in to catch a glimpse of Humaima Mallick, definitely the star of the night, looking pretty and feminine in a tangerine Saira Shakira top. The overcrowded hall was hot and claustrophobic but kudos to the actress for obliging the eager crowd with her ready smile and willingness to pose for countless selfies without losing her cool. Co-star Sikander Rizvi might not have a film to his credit yet but when you look like that, you don’t have any shortage of fans, especially of the female variety. Together, Humaima and Sikander were movie-star material enough to cause a commotion.

With so many local films releasing this year, PR campaigns have kicked into overdrive and while it’s wonderful that the audiences are being given the opportunity to engage and interact with stars through their numerous public appearances, PR teams need to learn to strategize intelligently. We were promised a live performance

by the talented boys from Soch, who have written and composed part of the soundtrack, but a few impromptu notes sung from two of the released tracks ‘Kala Doriya’ and ‘Kabhi Kabhi’ can hardly be termed a live performance.

A press conference held prior to the public event would have been a good way to give members of the press and media a chance to get the stories they were looking for, rather than having to fight their way into the throng that surrounded the cast and crew as they took the mic to talk about the film’s music. From the general public’s point of view, however, this was an evening well-spent, especially since they also got the chance to see the charming Ali Zafar up close and personal. The musician-turned-actor was the surprise guest at the event and he interacted easily with the crowd, urging them to book their tickets and watch what promised to be a visually appealing and melodic cinematic ride.
