A watched pot never boils, or so the proverb goes. Well, it isn’t entirely wrong especially when it comes to films because the more we look forward to one, the more we seem to have to wait for it. Case in point: the Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Raees, which was set to release in the last quarter of 2016.

An official statement released on Twitter confirmed rumours circulating on the local movie circuit that cross-border venture Raees will now be in cinemas on the 26th of
January, 2017. Though the shooting of the film wrapped up last year, the official statement announced that the delay was to ensure a film of its magnitude is properly showcased with due pomp and hype. We know that it would have to go up against Salman Khan’s Sultan if released over Eid and against Aamir Khan’s Dangal if released over the Christmas holidays. These are the two big slots for movie releases on the calendar. Instead, Raees will play it safe and release in January, next year.

Raees has garnered a lot of attention in Pakistan for it pairs Bollywood’s badshah Shah Rukh Khan with our very own Mahira Khan. This will be Mahira’s Bollywood debut in a coveted venture spearheaded by actor and director Farhan Akhtar. But fans face a long wait before they can even catch a glimpse of what is being touted as a super hit blockbuster already.
